Details:
This is the third volume in a series of Bill Solly's Greatest Hits. The artists include Solly himself, Barbara Anselmi, Michael Gaylord, Mamie Parris, Terry Richmond, Roy Thinnes and Carl Tramon. (Note: TV and moviegoers will recognize Roy Thinnes from THE INVADERS, THE X-FILES and movies like THE HINDENBURG.) Liner notes for this album were specially written by Dick Vosburgh, bookwriter and lyricist of the 1980 Broadway hit musical, A DAY IN HOLLYWOOD, A NIGHT IN THE UKRAINE. The songs on this album come from various musicals, including BOY MEETS BOY, SWEET WILLIAM and THE GREAT AMERICAN BACKSTAGE MUSICAL, and from other theatrical and cabaret sources. Solly is the writer whose songs Stephen Holden of the NY Times described as "clever enough to invite rip-roaring comic performances". The Times of London, England described his work as follows: "Lyrics metrically ingenious, music at once very knowing and bursting with exuberant innocence."
