These are some thoughts/inspirations about the songs on this CD.
1. Shift Work Blues â This actually happened to me while working (during the hottest week of summer) in a paper mill many years ago. This is an anthem to all those who work a job that they really donât like.
2. Love Starved â When your love for someone is as primal and basic as the need for food.
3. Jilted â Itâs that moment when you know your lover has been unfaithful. You canât change what has happened, and you canât stop the pain.
4. When Iâm Dancinâ â Is about a shy guy who just doesnât have the courage to ask a girl out on a date, but if he could only get her to dance with himâ¦
5. The Passenger â This song is a composition of respect for the wonder of my children, and the unconditional love that I have for them. It is for all kids, everywhere⦠and their mothers too.
6 Coyote Girl â A true story based on the illegal sex trade in the U.S. today. Each year, hundreds of young girls are smuggled here under false pretenses. They are then forced to work as prostitutes and other horribly degrading jobs by Coyotes (smugglers) in order to pay for their âtransportationâ (packed in the cargo holds of ships or tractor trailers) to America.
7. The Real Thing â A person knows and feels when love like this happens to them⦠and yes, it really does make your heart sing.
8. Mad At The World â I felt compelled to write this after I was on-line reading e-mails written to the family of renowned race car driver Dale Earnhardt the night he was killed. To my shock and total disbelief, a number of the e-mails were rude, hateful, and void of any compassion. (There are a lot of angry people out there!)
9. Spaceman or Farmer? â This song asks the question: When I really grow up, will I choose to be a part of the technological world or live in a simpler fashion? (This question really originated in the1960âs and 70âs.)
10. I Love You Anyway â Age old story: guy loves girl, girl doesnât love guy, guy wonât give up his love for her (but heâs not weird about it), and the beat goes on.
11. Rock and Roll Star â Ever wonder what happened to a musician or band that you used to follow or listen to, but they just sort of disappeared? Sometimes I do too. Are they still out there playing? If soâ¦where? If notâ¦why not? (Occasionally, I get asked that question myself.) So if you are wondering, then âthis oneâs for you!â
