Growing up in the atmosphere of Brooklyn, N.Y. in an obstacle coarse of financial struggle, drug infested neighborhoods, untrustworthy individuals, thugs, and slutty chicks is a pretty challenging and dramatic situation typically adressed in the rhymes of past and present rappers. Sketch architec's music is kinda similar yet totally different. We all heard of the hood stories in rap music, but Sketch talks about the mental aspects: battling demons and oppressors that try to hold him down, addictions, years of depression, and life as a blue collar worker. Quite the opposite of a typical phat cat's tales of bragging about flossin, ice (bling), platinum rims on flashy cars, pushin weight, gettin brain from fast chicks, and having a 800 deep crew brandishing guns. Sketch may not get the commercially social acceptance given in the unpredictable Hip Hop industry, mainly because he's placed in the catgory of the Commons, Mos Defs, Talib Kwelis, and even the Kanye Wests......but that's OK with him, he's just concentrating on putting out good material, his music is like therapy for him. In todays musical climate, especially Hip Hop, where things lack originality.....Sketch is content with his style and lyrical prowess. In addition to his rap ability, he's also a highly skilled and critically acclaimed Illustrator. He takes pride in doing his own artwork and lettering for his CD covers. Though his music may not be for everybody, he's confident in the fact that you can't deny him both lyrically and artistically.
