Lauren McLean-Britt, âSweet Lamb,â is one of Bostonâs own rising gospel artists. She is a graduate of Emerson College in Boston, MA, where she studied the Performing Arts. But long before her college days, Lauren had been âbelting the songsâ since the tender age of five years old. Laurenâs love for music and singing has always been encouraged by family and friends and lovingly nurtured by the Church.

As a teenager, she participated in the Garthenia Beal Gospel Ensemble of Concord Baptist Church in Boston under the direction of Minister Freda Battle. âFreda taught me early on,â Lauren states, âthat itâs not just enough to love the music, but youâve got to be dedicated to putting in the time to learn all you can about the music.â Lauren also recalls about her early role model, âFreda always stayed focused and serious about her music, and she was committed to making sure that the Beal Gospel Ensemble sang those songs RIGHT! Itâs no doubt that Iâve been influenced by one of gospelâs very best.â

Over the years, Lauren has showcased her vocal talent through her commitment to church and community choirs, and through performances in local musical theatre productions of âRaisin,â âYour Arms Are Too Short to Box with God,â and the âWiz.â Though musical theatre is one of Laurenâs favorite pastimes, it cannot compare to the joy she derives from singing Godâs praises through contemporary and traditional gospel songs. âIâve found my niche or should I say my gift has made room for me,â she says quoting a familiar scripture from Proverbs 18:16.
