Jim Schomann was born in Memphis and lived there a good deal of his life. He learned to play the guitar at age 8 with the neighborhood clinic and later graduated from The University of Memphis in Marketing.

His first song was recorded in Memphis at age 9 in Olswanger studios,a blues tune about a poor drunken mouse.

Jim had very succesful bands while in college and has always favored the old STAX Records sound.

"House of the Rising Sun" was first heard by Jim when he was
12, but as an old folk song not the Animals' rock version. He always felt it had yet to be performed to the emotional level it evoked from people.
