-A&R Reviews

"Project" is an independent CD release of Peter Sciaino's music that has received praise for it's writing ("compelling"), production ("a clean, present, close-to-the-listener quality"), and performance ("stand out"). The recording is made up of a variety of small group settings for mixed instrumentation with expressive and free soundscapes. The musicians taking part in this project are close friends which gives the album a very true and thoughtful vibe.

Jeff Kunkel's piano playing on the recording has drawn accolades for it's "tasty voicing and accompaniment." Peter McCullough "does a great job anchoring the ensemble" while percussionist Mike Advensky's "swirling quality to his approach is highly appealing." The performances are "a nice balance of the consonant and dissonant, the expected and the unexpected."

Originally from South Orange, New Jersey trumpeter Peter Sciaino began playing trumpet at the age of 9. He has studied trumpet with Laurie Frink, Jimmy Owens, and David Larson and composition with Jim McNeely and Joseph Riposo.

In May of 2006 Sciaino completed his graduate studies at New York University where he earned a Masters in Music Performance and Composition in the Jazz Studies department.
