Details:
Who are The Battery Kids? If you want the bare bones, The Battery Kids are a four-piece 'rock' outfit from Adelaide, South Australia. Using the word rock seems a little confusing though, given the variation of sounds and influences in each song.

Shannon (guitar, vox), Bowl (keys, vox), and Jonno (drums) met while studying music and decided to put to use the skills they were learning. A few jam sessions and demo songs later saw them recruit the skills of Tom (bass), another music student. Although the Kids have all studied jazz at one point or another, the individual styles and influences all reflect themselves in the music.Initially, songwriting came out somewhere between anthemic pop and gothic punk, but soon hardened into a flexible - yet consistent - style incorporating elements of everything from jazz to hardcore, punk to reggae, blues to classical.

Having previous experience performing live helped the band quickly adjust to performing, so shows capture all the energy and intensity of the music, without losing any of the theatricality and intricacy on recording. Combined with a drive to perform, this has seen them rock out around Adelaide, making appearances at Jive, Off The Couch, The Jade Monkey, The Governor Hindmarsh, and many more.

The band's latest endeavour, debut EP Requiem For A Nightmare, combines haunting melodies and orchestration with an urgency and catchiness usually reserved for the dance floor. Recorded at Soundhouse, Adelaide.
