This album is to be used in conjunction with the regular tracks on "John and Mark's Excellent Rock Adventure." It is one of four play-along packages we created (for lead gtr, rhythm gtr, bass & drums) in a wide range of genres that make for great study tools and lots of fun. The physical CD (unlike the mp3 down-load form) actually contains the eleven tracks contained on the regular album as well as the ten play-along tracks; over 70 min. of music! The project was conceived, performed, and produced by bassist John Adams and guitarist Mark Cuthbertson. This amazing instrumental project takes the listener on an exciting sonic journey. The light-hearted and humorous implications of the title and creatively rendered artwork are offset by powerful and thoughtful music, all presented with cutting edge production.
The eleven original songs contained in the CD convey a wide range of styles, influences and groups from rock and pop music, including progressive rock, world-beat, indie/alternative rock, heavy metal, classic rock, and more, each presented with John and Markâs unique stamp. Fans of artists Peter Gabriel, Rush, Yes, Sting, The Rolling Stones, Mettalica, Phil Collins, Joe Satriani, and Eric Johnson (to name a few) will find plenty of music here to sink their musical teeth into.
Aside from John and Markâs rock solid, energetic, and masterful bass and guitar performances on the project, ââ¦Excellent Rock Adventureâ also exhibits an extraordinary attention to production detail. The palette of sounds from their respective instruments, as well as state-of-the-art synth programming is astonishing without being overbearing or distracting. The mixing and mastering are first-rate, and have put all of the musical details in their proper place.
