Phoenix-based trio South Mountain Lights' debut album is shrouded in all things heavy, splitting time between manic, sad and mad. ... Shade and darkness prevail as gorgeous soundscapes wrestle with full-bore rock riffs. High and otherworldly, yet fully grounded.
10 MP3 Songs in this album (47:53) !
Related styles: Rock: Post-Rock/Experimental, Avant Garde: Experimental, Type: Experimental
People who are interested in Led Zeppelin Radiohead Talk Talk should consider this download.
Details:
South Mountain Lights was born in the Arizona desert in late 2004; a trio with a common goal of creating music that was equal parts heavy and delicate, graceful and dense, immediate and deep. Initial songwriting efforts yielded creations with a dynamic balance not unlike lulling ocean waves crashing violently on a rocky seashore; inspiring the bandâs original name, Pacific. As the music developed, the group settled on a moniker that was a reflection of their Phoenix connection as well as their lustrous sound. Elements of Laughing-Stock-era Talk Talk, Bloc Party and Dif Juz all found their way into South Mountain Lightsâ music, as well as crunchy Zeppelin-inspired riffs, late-era Radiohead experimentalism and heavy dub stylings; bound together by drummer Jason Farrellâs tight, Stewart Copelandesque intensity. A thoroughly moving and powerful musical document by three musicians who are true to their craft.
