Details:
Randy Crowe (acoustic guitar/harmonica/vocals) was a true American troubadour who wandered the world with his music. Born in Missouri, he served in the military and travelled extensively before planting roots in Charleston, SC. His music is a blend of Piedmont blues (Blind Boy Fuller, Gary Davis, et. al.), country folk/rock (Byrds, Jackson Browne, Eagles), and classic '70s singer-songwriter material (in the style of James Taylor, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens). Many will remember him in Charleston for his steady performances solo and also as part of The Blues Socialites, core group band of the Lowcountry Blues Society circa 1986-1998. He is joined on this album (recorded by Keith Bruce in 1989) by Shrimp City Slim (Gary Erwin) on piano, bass, and washboard; (Silent) Eddie Phillips, guitar, bass, and members of Blue Light Special (Jay Niver, drums, and David Coulter, sax). Randy was a lovely guy and is remembered fondly by all who knew him. He passed away in Costa Rica tragically early and is survived by his soulmate Karen. Thanks, Randy, for the good times.
