Details:
Three Thirteen is the title of a very personal musical project. Named simply after the month and day of birth of its creator, Mark Harrell. All of the music on SUBTELARIUM as well as the two previous releases; "THREE THIRTEEN" and "UPRISING" were written, performed, mixed and produced in his home studio in Baltimore, Maryland.

The musical expressions of Three Thirteen are quite varried, often based upon note fragments, scales, or rhythms, allowed to grow organically, from the center outward, as in "The Exchange". Other times a piece such as "Subtearium" will use interchanging chord progressions to establish a mood, then successively enrich the theme. The musical evolution of the individual pieces works upon the listener in an almost metabolic manner. SUBTLEARIUM is the most eclectic CD from Three Thirteen. Ranging from fairly traditional jazz/pop compositions like "The Renunciator" to the indian rhythm based "Middle Eastern Avenue" to the experimental and often abstract "Hard Sell".

Despite what initially seems to be an eclectic mix of music, when heard as a whole, as was the composer's intent, the listener of SUBTEARIUM will move through a remarkably harmonious universe of moods and internal reflections, a place that must be heard to be seen.
