Born in the ashes of prog rock band solis, thebignothing is an acoustic endeavor by me (johnny $) and Sean (SAK). Drums on "insecurities" and "chains" were performed by Andrew Siegmann. The name of the band was inspired by the song "ballad of big nothing" by Elliott Smith, one of the major influences on our music. Both sean and I play guitar and both of us dabble in other areas, including keyboard, piano, synth, bongos, and harmonica. Some other influences of ours include Smashing Pumpkins, TOOL, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, A Perfect Circle, as well as Beck, Muse, and Nick Drake. We are located in Upstate New York, in the Albany area. The goal of our music is to represent a rather small niche of music, though we have pop sensibilities. Our main goal is to stay true to ourselves and true to our music and have some sucess as musicians. This is thebignothing's debut album.
