Details:
The Alice Rose was formed by vocalist/guitarist/songwriter JoDee Purkeypile, bassist and vocalist Sean Crooks, and drummer Chris Sensat in Austin, Texas in 2001. Colin Slagle (guitar), and Brendan Rogers (keys/backing vocals), joined the band in the fall of 2005, and the group debuted as a five-piece that December.

The Alice Rose recently finished recording their debut album, 'Phonographic Memory', at the Congress House Studio in Austin, Tx with producer Mark Hallman (Oasis, Ani DiFranco, Daniel Johnston). The band released the album on November 10th, 2006 with an in-store performance at Waterloo Records in their hometown of Austin. The following week the album debuted at #1 on the Waterloo Records "Shiner Top 10".

National Public Radio's David Brown says of the new album,"Think about hearing a classic tune by Squeeze for the first time, and it's easy to understand how special this Austin-based band is: Every song on its debut sounds both strangely familiar and utterly new."

San Antonio Express-News music critic Jim Beal, Jr. says, "If you like '60s-era pop rock with lush melodies, cool chord changes and vocal harmonies, you'll love The Alice Rose."

Michael Corcoran, music critic with the Austin American Statesman, states simply, "...this is what Squeeze would sound like if a young Syd Barrett were a collaborator."

The band has plans to tour next year and spread the sound around. Look for them soon in a town near you.
