BLUES: Rhythm & Blues, BLUES: Guitar Blues

Details:
This West Coast native is a prolific songwriter and a renowed multi-instrumentalist, arranger, singer and bandleader. He has recorded with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Richard Thompson, R.L. Burnside, Chuck E. Weiss, Rick Holmstrom, Kid Ramos, and many other artists. His songs have been recorded by Janiva Magness, Gary Primich, James Harman, and Saffire, among others.
"The Distance You Can Travel" is Jeff's most recent solo release and features 12 tracks in a setting dominated by deep Memphis soul and New Orleans funk. The songs deal with travel, loss, loneliness, red hot women and getting yourself a real good ride. A blues sensibility permeates this record, though there's not a 12-bar blues to be found. Guest artists include Rick Holmstrom on guitar, Janiva Magness on background vocals, Steve Mugalian (Mighty Flyers, Dave Alvin) on drums, and Mike Tempo (Bonedaddys) on percussion. There are some tasty guitar and saxophone solos, but the focus is on the songs.
Jeff has been playing blues and roots music in Southern California since the 1980's. He's traveled extensively with James Harman and Canned Heat, among others, and plays guitar, saxophone, electric and acoustic bass and whatever else happens to be lying around. His influences run wide and deep, including Percy Mayfield, Jimmy Reed, Randy Newman, Charles Mingus, Robert Nighthawk, and O.V Wright.
Jeff continues to write and record great songs and take part in the vast Los Angeles music scene.
