THE FIRST TERRY KITCHEN CD, NOW BACK IN PRINT!

Originally released in 1995, I Own This Town was described as "thirteen songs about life, love and Findlay, Ohio" (the town Kitchen lived in as a teenager). While each song is built around Kitchen's insightful lyrics, intimate vocals and shimmering acoustic guitar, the album features a rich sound featuring Seth Connelly on fretless bass and Phyllis Capanna and Brice Buchanan on harmony vocals as well as pedal steel, percussion, mandolin and even melodica. The result is both a pleasing collection of contemporary folksongs and a powerful introduction to Kitchen's ironic take on life, love, and yes, Ohio, with casual bits of wisdom hidden in the character sketches of winners losing, losers winning and the rest of us in between. Featuring the darkly funny title song (which manages to evoke both Richard Shindell and Led Zeppelin), the charming science lesson/love song "Pearl Within My Heart" and Kitchen's original version of "Christmas Is Homeless," later recorded by Barbara Kessler.
