Details:
Agave Blue is Ted Wulfers' 3rd official CD release (2002 and the first CD to establish Wulfers as a mainstream artist. Co-produced by Chris Shepard (Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews, Wilco and Buddy Guy) and Wulfers, Agave Blue is a musical journey that highlights the incredible songwriting, storytelling and musicianship of Wulfers.

Released in 2002, Agave Blue has produced radio singles such as "Tequila 'N Me," "Something of Everything," "Naked Pleasure," "When Nightfall Comes Around" and the fan favorite, "College." "St. Estephe," the beautiful "Desiree" and "Crawl" have also become fan/cult favorites.

Pre-production and planning for Agave Blue began in October 2000. The album was recorded and mixed in and around Chicago during the summer and fall months of 2001. Ted worked closely with Chris Shepard to co-produce, engineer
and mix the new album. A large, century-old farmhouse, dubbed "The Cathouse," was rented and converted into a modern day studio with Shepard's CMIX portable studio and served as the production location. Though a large majority of the tracking was completed there, the rest took place at the Chicago Recording Company (CRC). Roger Seibel at SAE Mastering mastered the album in Phoenix, Ariz.

Ted sang lead and background vocals and played most of the instruments on Agave Blue. These included acoustic and electric guitars, bass, piano, lap steel, dobro, keyboards, harmonica, drums, percussion and fly reel. Other musicians who assisted with the album include Matt Walker (Smashing Pumpkins, Filter) on drums, Bruce Breckenfeld on the Hammond B-3 organ, Carey Deadman on trumpet, Christine Favia on flute, Colin Murphy on fiddle, guitar and background vocals, Matthew Ciccone on keyboards and Mark Cantwil sang background vocals.

"In the two years of putting together Agave Blue, I knew that the final album would have something almost everyone could relate and get into. And if you want proof, just listen to the album. The proof is in the music. The songs are very durable and to this day, we always get requests for Agave Blue songs in the set and I get compliments on what a strong record it is all the time," said Wulfers.
