a knock out collection of "little movies" - a rare string of storied pearls strung together by scene-conjuring musical styles and vivid word pictures.

14 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Modern Folk, FOLK: Political

Details:
MacNamara recently openened at Passim for Mary Gauthier.

"We played with and for each other for three years at Folk Alliance showcases, and have become fast friends."

In Vancouver this year he was teamed with Annie Gallup, Ken Whiteley and the legendary Roy Forbes. "It was a big media event. The CBC was there and the place
was packed. It was the kind of scene that singer-songwriters dream about. The audience came to listen and we all kept turning each other on. What a night!"

A sought-after performer in the folk scene, Terry MacNamara brings
to singer-songwriting the fruits of years spent as an musician-actor working with many of Chicago's best theatres. Working along with actor Gary Sinise in Steppenwolf Theatre Co.'s production of Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath , he performed at London's famed Royal National Theatre and on Broadway
where their show won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1990.

"I've got a very theatrical approach to songwriting." Terry says,"I think of my
songs as little movies. They're very visual. It's a wonderful medium for story telling."

Charlie Hunter, of Young Hunter management says of MacNamara, " I first heard Terry play at a National conference a couple of years ago, and more or less followed him around for the entire weekend after that, trying to hear one song in particular - 'Sleepin' at a Dead Run' over and over again - it's a 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' for the next hundred years. Terry MacNamara has one of the best senses of lyric rhythm I've ever heard. "

Philadelphia area folk-radio chieftain Gene Shay commented " That kind of literary treatment with slide guitar; That's something you don't normally hear. This is witty, and it works."

David Wilcox, after listening toTerry perform in Lyon's Colorado, told his Song School class, " That son of a bitch just stood up there and told the truth."
