TAKE SOME OLD COUNTRY,A FEW MINOR CHORDS AND A"SEARCHING" WAY OF LOOKING AT THE WORLD AND THERE YOU HAVE IT. ME,I JUST CALL IT MOUNTAIN COUNTRY. MY 1ST CD .SONGS ABOUT HOME, A GOOD PLACE TO START
10 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Country Blues, COUNTRY: Country Folk
Details:
The generations of my family lived along the Middle fork of the Kentucky River. When I was six my daddy went 'cross Pine Mountain and got a job in Harlan County in the Coalmines. My mother took my two sisters and me and everything we had and followed him a couple of months later.
So I grew up in mining camps listening to Jimmie Rodgers and his Blue yodel,Bill Monroe, Merle Travis,Hank Williams and Hank Snow.Later on came Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.
By the time my wife Anna and I were in our early twenties we had two sons, Terence and Michael. I Came to the city to get a job as so many young men and women from Appalachia had to do. I thank God for this big city. It gave me a means to raise my little family. Still, I long for the hills.
When I was in my late twenties I wrote a song one day quite by accident while fooling around with my old Sears flat top guitar. it wasn't bad and I was hooked. Got a few cuts in Nashville . Even had one thing make The Billboard Chart. Now I was really hooked!
Everyone always told me I should sing my own songs and Lately I realize just how right that is (for me at least) I guess you might say it's my turn to sing.
Here it is, my 1st album. This one's mostly about Home. A good place to start. Terry Muncy
