Energetic group of poppy folk-players led by Jerstin Crosby.
18 MP3 Songs
POP: Quirky, FOLK: Folk Pop
Details:
Tennis and The Mennonites is the bizarre union of Jerstin Crosby and rotating cast of characters known as the Mennonites that come together in the humble town of Chapel Hill, NC. The band's first release, an EP entitled "Wicked Man", is based around Crosby's folk-meets-punk style songwriting and is a perfect example of how the band tends to materialize: form meets chaos. The EP features members of The Honored Guests and Pleasant, including Andrew Kinghorn of The Guests on drums and Maria Albani of Pleasant on bass. "Wicked Man's" release saw favorable reviews (I need a quote here) and was added to local college radio.
Immediatley after the release of the EP, Stuart Cullinan joined the band full time on the drums and Kinghorn moved to the role of guitar and producer. Tennis have had a busy year and have shared the stage with such acts as Superchunk (Merge), Rogue Wave (SubPop), The Honored Guests (Breakfast Mascot), Mazarin (I and Ear), The Rosebuds (Merge), I am the World trade Center (Gammon) and HeadPhones while touring the East Coast.
"Quilt Noise" is an 18-track album of songs from 4 different studios, 3 different producers, 7 band members, and a ridiculous amount of instruments and ideas. The album will be available in select stores, online, and under the Breakfast Mascot Record Label
