Old favorites, and some new ones. Traditional celtic music with hammered dulcimer and guitar.
15 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Traditional Folk, WORLD: Celtic
Details:
Sheila Taft (hammered dulcimer) and Cathy Ross(guitar)have been playing music together for some twenty-five years. They both live in Seattle, Washington but Sheila is a native of Scotland and Cathy traces her ancestry back to Ireland and Wales. Together, they have developed a repertoire of melodies that reflect their Celtic roots. Most of the selections on the CD are traditional tunes that trace back as far as the 16th century. Many were originally composed to be played on the Irish harp.
Sheila And Cathy have created their own musical arrangements for these melodies, utilizing the unique characteristics of their two instruments. They seek to blend the guitar's deep resonance and the hammered dulcimer's bright energy into a seamless sound that is rich in texture and feeling.
Sheila plays the hammered dulcimer she bought from Dusty Strings in Seattle in 1982. She also plays five-string banjo and autoharp. Cathy has played the same acoustic guitar for nearly thirty years. She is also a folk singer and published song writer. Homespun Celtic is their first recording.
Victory Review July 2005
"...After 25 years of performing together, they've finally decided to record what they do, and it is an arrival to be embraced..."
