Eclectic, loose, rootsy rock n' roll as played by chain-smoking fez monkeys on a raucous two week bender...but also SENSITIVE.
14 MP3 Songs
BLUES: Electric Blues, ROCK: Americana
Details:
Named for the sort of complexion you get from the neon nightly beer lights, Tavern Tan play live American Music. This is the sound that used to be standard in taverns, pubs, bars, juke joints, dancehalls, and the local dive in every town and city in America...before the Karoke machine was created and the theme restaurants took their ugly hold. With members that have played (individually or collectively) at Gun Clubs, Honky Tonks, Festivals in Europe, NY Studios, down In Memphis TN at Sun Records, and opened for various BIG GAME like Neville Bros, Van Morrison, John Lee Hooker (R.I.P.), and R.L. Burnside (R.I.P.), this is the sound of original roots rock n' roll...moving from blues, to pop, to alt-country, and back to good ol' rock n' roll. The sound of a small portable drum kit with the guitar amps along the back wall. The sound of Tavern Tan.
Recorded at Dan's House Studio in Center Valley, PA, with Dan McKinney of The Original Sins providing keyboards on select cuts, this debut CD from Tavern Tan is a great representation of their eclectic roots sound, with songs from all members of the bandâas well as a cover of R.L. Burnside's "Jumper on the Line"...a staple of their live shows. Dig it!!
Doug Ashby: guitar, reluctant bass guitar, vocals
Andrew Brubaker: guitar, grudging bass guitar, vocals
Tom Aczel: harmonicas, vocals
Dave Joachim: drums, percussion, vocals
