TRACY FORSYTH, 'Heavy Metal Lena Horne', in her debut CD, brings to the world of folk/rock dynamic control of her operatically trained soprano voice. Combine these attributes with her spiritual and new thought lyrics and the talent on this CD flies in the face of strict genre categories. Although Tracy did not highlight her very capable higher operatic sounds in this adult contemporary release in 2005 the brilliance still very much stuns listeners, both those who have and those who have not heard this artist before. Her influences are Heart, Queensryche, Scorpions and the music on her current CD has tones of Kate Bush, Tori Amos & musical theatre. From personal messages of taking care of ourselves and doing the best we can to issues of mind-controlled slaves (written for Cathy & Mark Phillips and Kelly) the CD embraces a variety of forms.
Tracy's 11 songs were chosen from the more than 100 that she has written during the span of her career. This CD was an exceptional project with its ease, synchronicity and beauty. The CD package includes an 8-page colourful booklet of lyrics, photos and liner notes. Tracyâs husband, Scott (carver-extraordinaire!) prepared the exquisite artwork and the package was completed by Tracy and JON Hemingway (music & artist-extraordinaire!).
Tracy has enjoyed a 1/2 page newspaper article written about her & her CD in the Peace Arch News (first CD ever to have that large an article in the newspaper), has appeared on a KISM radio interview, enjoyed radio airplay around the world, edited the Seattle performances of the all-female rock band 'Catastrophe' (1992-1993), and performed in a musical theatrical production in Surrey, BC. She has recently joined a rock band that would perform a number of European rock songs. She is preparing for a December performance which will be videotaped as an audition for the band Nightwish in Finland. Since a jam in early September Tracy realized how much she enjoyed performing hard rock - it never left her from the early days. Symphonic metal with an opera singer!!! Europe is and has been doing it! What joy! A brilliant genre she can excel in! If she makes it into Nightwish this will be what she has waited for for many years!
