5 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Americana, ROCK: 70's Rock
Details:
Delivering melodically haunting, rhythmically compelling, song-oriented rock, Trances Arc creates a long-overdue niche in the American popular music landscape. More polished than the numerous neo-punk, garage bands that have emerged in recent years, Trances Arc nonetheless possesses a raw energy and attitude that perfectly compliments its sophisticated yet angular sound. The band's massive unreleased catalog, coupled with its undeniably mesmerizing stage presence, establishes the foundation for a healthy stake in rock n' roll real estate.
Raised in and nourished by the legendary Athens, Georgia music scene, the band was formed when singer/songwriter Eric Toledo assembled childhood friends Brad Hagen (percussion), Greg Cavinder (bass), and Ben Allen (guitar) for a 13 song recording session in 1998. The first collection of songs, colloquially known as the Under the Couch Sessions, are now recognized as the humble beginnings of the band called Trances Arc.
These first crude recordings established an instant fan-base in Athens, and as the popularity of the Under the Couch Sessions spread to Atlanta, the nascent band followed, increasingly playing small clubs in the Southeast. Blue Maze, an independent Atlanta-based label, soon signed Trances Arc, and the band recorded its first full-length album featuring many songs on the Under the Couch Sessions. Michael Dorio, an established and energetic guitarist from Atlanta, was summoned to help with the recording and has remained a permanent fixture in the band. Since the 2001 release of their first record, Color TV Influential, Trances Arc has become one of the most dominant and credible features on the southeastern rock scene.
The band has toured the southeast actively promoting their unofficial 2004 release, the Save the World EP with overwhelming response. Regarded as "Career-making new recordings" (Greenberg/Traurig), garnished with "lush arrangements, unique, [and] heartfelt lyrics" (Atlanta Music Guide), the Save the World EP reflected the band's straight ahead rock influence and "Americana Flair" (Demo Diaries). Track "Champagne" reaching #2 on XM radio's unsigned.
Trances Arc continues to captivate audiences with its kinetic live act, which is regularly embraced by venues like the 40 Watt Club (Athens, GA), the Roxy (Atlanta, GA). Additionally, the band enjoys regular airplay on Atlanta radio stations 99X, 96Rock and Album 88.5, as well as 107Q (Columbus, GA).
