A genre-bending tour de force. Part bombast, orchestra, beats, and classic song, this album contains everything.
17 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Breakbeat/Breaks, POP: with Electronic Production
Details:
Tryad, perhaps one of the first internationally-separated internet Creative Commons bands, have finally released their first album, Public Domain. The members of Tryad - Arna, Ema, John Holowach, rjmarshall, and vavrek - met through the internet after Holowach remixed marshall's work, and vavrek added vocals. Over the many months following that, they collaborated, all without having ever spoken to each other (only e-mailed), and produced a strikingly original work.
Combining elements of trip-hop, alt. rock, classical instrumentation, and electronica, Public Domain breaks the mold of what you'd expect. From the hard-thumping bass, drums, and chorus of "The Final Rewind," to the mellow, drifting sixties beat of "Peace On Earth (Same Place)," to the stinging madness of "Dance of the Urbanite," there's something here for everyone to appreciate.
Brilliant vocal work accentuates the already excellent production of the tracks. This is most prominently displayed on the epic "Witness," the music of which is almost absorbed by vocalist Arna, as composition work by rjmarshall is enhanced by production and beats by Holowach.
Bands and artists like Portishead, Rob Dougan, the Beatles, Moby, Massive Attack, and many others mish-mash together on this audio journey, the end of which makes you want to relive it all over again...
