Not-So-Pure Pop For Mod-ish People.
4 MP3 Songs
POP: Power Pop, ROCK: Modern Rock
Details:
Pemberton Roach: Lead vocals, bass guitar
Angus Clark: Guitar
Brendan McGowan: Drums
Though the members of New York City power pop/mod band TROUBLE CLUB first joined forces in late 2005, all three had previously recorded for major labels and gigged in venues ranging from hay bale-lined flatbed trucks to 100,000 seat soccer stadiums. On The Club's debut EP, The Unbreakable Heart, the group delivers four sharply crafted pop songs featuring lush three part harmonies, burning guitars and an aggressive rhythm section. Unabashedly combining such disparate elements as squiggly new wave synthesizer lines and fleet-fingered hair metal guitar solos on a single track, the group's energetic music is characterized by catchy tunes and lyrics at once subtly humorous and deeply melancholic. A high-energy live act composed of ace players, the group built a sizeable word of mouth following before ever even hitting a stage.
Here's what the critics are saying about Trouble Club:
"Angus Clark wails!" -- Tucson Weekly
"Pemberton Roach has written songs that may just be perfect" -- Magnet
