"I am convinced a word, a smile or even a song can communicate the love of Christ. Because I recognized years ago that my musical ability is a gift from God, it is a blessing to bear witness of His goodness, through song. The songs I write and sing reveal what I have observed, experienced or felt in my personal walk with the Lord," says gospel artist Timothy McDonald.

Born in Rochester, New York, the sixth of seven children, McDonald began singing at the tender age of five. His fervent desire to sing eventually led him to join the children's choir at his home church in New York. Soon McDonald found himself "witnessing through music; in numerous solo performances and in appearances with various local gospel groups." Even as a teen, I knew I had a message I wanted to share with the world. As my experiences with Christ increased, my witness for Him matured," McDonald recollects. "There is nothing like being in love with Christ and coming to a place where you acknowledge and appreciate His awesomeness. This is the message I hope listeners will receive."

As a vocalist that writes and co-produces most of his own music, McDonald blends harmonious melodies with lyrics that explore the depth of the sacrifice of Jesus. His songs truly inspire the soul. The singer's musical journey invites listeners to contemplate the life of the Man who gave His life for all. Eight years ago, he fulfilled a life long endeavor with his debut recording, A Love Like This. McDonald wrote nine of the ten album tracks.

McDonald's sophomore release, 3 Miles Left, was inspired by McDonald's numerous travels to Nashville, Tennessee. "I can recall many lonely nights traveling home to Ohio from Tennessee and traversing a Kentucky hillside perched just above the city of Cincinnati. On one particular night, as I came across that familiar hilltop indicating that I was nearing home, I was overwhelmed by the spectacular view of the entire city. That view transformed me and I was immediately inundated with thoughts of heaven. Seconds after beholding that heavenly scene, I realized I was just three miles from home." The title of his new album serves as a reminder that time here on earth is short, Jesus is soon to come, yet there are still people who do not know about His love and His sacrifice for us."I must take this opportunity to testify about the second coming of Jesus in song," McDonald declares.

Listeners will, undoubtedly, be encouraged by the messages of hope McDonald shares through his lyrics."On My Way" is among the eight songs McDonald wrote for his second album. This gospel ballad is a personal cry, even a testimonial, to return to that intimate relationship with our Creator."So many of us lose our way at times. We get lost because we are selfish,"McDonald relates. "Eventually we recognize our state and desperately seek to reconnect with our Savior."The guitar on this track, coupled with the extraordinary background vocals, adds weighty emotion to the plea. 3 Miles Left also features a heartfelt anthem entitled "In Need Of A Prayer". Also written by McDonald, this song depicts a cry for the Lord's intervention, in all things. More than praising Christ, McDonald's listeners are reminded there is safety and security in Jesus' arms. Despite the challenges life presents, 3 Miles Left encourages listeners to remember that the ultimate goal is heaven. "Until Jesus returns," explains McDonald,"I will share His love through music and by living a life that reflects God's will."

Gospel music has such an amazingly rich heritage and McDonald has had the incredible opportunity to share his gift, with some of gospel's most distinguished musicians and vocalists. He has opened concerts for gospel recording artists Wintley Phipps, Chris Willis, Bob Carlyle, Allen & Alan, Angelo & Veronica, and Jonathan Slocomb. He has also shared the stage with other well-known artists such as Mary Mary, Kurt Carr, Trinity 5:7, Dottie Peoples and Keith "Wonder Boy" Johnson. McDonald's hometown of Cincinnati has also been blessed to hear him perform at various venues throughout the city.

"I would be remiss if I failed to mention 3 Miles Left is such a special recording in that God showed me favor through every painstaking phase of its creation. The producers, musician, background singers, engineers, writers, planners and investors were all blessings," recounts McDonald."While I may have begun this project with limited resources, God surrounded me with a perfect group of individuals to help produce a witnessing tool more powerful than I could have ever imagined!"

McDonald's music is the vehicle through which he opens himself to his higher purpose in life."It is a tool God has entrusted me to share His message,"says McDonald. " I am undeniably blessed - I have been married to one incredible woman for ten years, I have two beautiful children and I am privileged to spread the love of God and His son Jesus in song.
