Raised an only child on the heels of a missing generation, for Seth Goodman, refuge came in two and a half minute blasts: AM hits, 60's pop, arena rock, new wave and punk, then a later discovered affinity for classic country and roots music. It all collides and swirls with the singer/songwriterâs deeply entrenched outsider's sensibility in his latest venture The Grand Undoing.

A veteran touring and recording lead guitarist and solo artist, Goodman also led the only American apocalyptic close harmony duet, the Diamond Platinum Rings. He released two CDs "The Stoned And the Lonely" and "6 Songs From The Ghostnet", and toured the U.K., Italy, and Holland many times over.

The first Grand Undoing album, entitled "Appeasing The Sick", is as eclectic as it is familiar and rocks as much as it soothes. It's Jim Reeves one minute, Jones and Strummer combined the next â fronting the Mekons and playing a funeral on acid while agitated. Look out. For the project, Goodman brought together a collective of outstanding musicians including Tony Goddess (Pappas Fritas), Dana Colley (Morphine), Allen Devine, Kevin Mahoney (The Diamond Platinum Rings) and David Michael Curry (Williard Grant Conspiracy, Thalia Zedek).

At first listen, The Grand Undoing is infectious and recognizable. But upon closer inspection the darker, dissonant, and even unnerving qualities of Goodmanâs distinctive sound emerge. "I try to create music that reflects the full range of our emotional lives, consequently my songs, though simple on some levels, also tend to be rich and complicated in sentiment.â Stories of cynicism and vulnerability, defeat, helplessness, love, irony and mortality are told through an urgent soundscape that calms, rages, uplifts, and seduces, straddling the line between convention and the undiscovered. âIf I can let some new light shine in on the table and reveal a previously unseen angle, then I'm happy. In any case, letting the songs rock when they want to doesn't hurt either."

Goodman, a man who has leaned hard on his record player from a young age, will release âAppeasing The Sickâ on October 21st, 2011 exclusively on blue and white marbled 180g vinyl, as well as digitally. It's the first in a series of Grand Undoing colored-vinyl/digital-only releases.
