Tranquility Album

This album is produced in conjunction with the "First Fruits" project, that uses music for rehabilitation in prisons.

The First Fruits project came as a result of singing in various prisons as part of the Prison Outreach Network. I was asked by inmates if I had any of the songs I sang on CD or if they could have copies of my poems because it helped them through many of the issues they were struggling with including bereavement and attempted suicide.

At one prison, I was asked to sing a song written by two of the inmates and after performing it one day, I was told by them that they had over 20 more which they would like me to sing. I suggested that I train them to sing the songs themselves and decided to set up a vocal workshop to teach them.

Shortly after our conversation, another inmate came up and thanked me for singing this song as he had a brother who recently committed suicide and he also had suicidal tendencies. It was at this point I realized that I could use music to help them as part of their rehabilitation and was further encouraged to hear a lady at another prison say that she was going to go back to music when she is released.

In the Jewish & Christian religions, there is a tradition of giving back to God the best of their crops as a way of saying thank you for the things God did for them and it is coined as giving their âfirst fruitsâ.

I believe that the gift of music was given to me by God; therefore I would like to thank God for this gift by serving my community.
