Nick Brown aka Lil Skandalaz, born in St. Louis, Missouri, was inspired to rap while listening to others participating in free style battles at school and in his neighborhood. Lil Skandalaz began free styling with his friends at an early age, which was a prelude to writing his own impressive hip-hop lyrics.

Unfortunately, this young artist's life sadly came to an end on January 25, 2004. He and his hype man both were killed in a car accident, while riding as passengers. Even though Lil Skandalaz is no longer with us, he leaves his Down South style, mixed with a Midwest Flava that will have you dancing and getting crunk to party songs, chilling to songs with a laid back appeal, and at the same time, enjoying the way Lil Skandalaz incorporates thought provoking lyrics to each track. His method of rapping at a medium slow pace is astonishing, and then when he switches it up with a "Twista" type approach, it will excite and move you.

Saints Roller Skating Rink was the location of several early performances by Lil Skandalaz, as a member of the former group TNT. As a solo artist, he had appeared during open mics at the Red Sea, Legacy Bookstore, Genesis House and Time Out in Alton, Illinois. Lil Skandalaz also won a 4th place trophy at the West End Community Center talent show and participated in his school's talent show as well.

Lil Skandalaz performed at Tandy Community Center, Visual and Performing Arts School, Limelight Teen Club and the Mike Jones Celebrity Basketball Game. He received an "Outstanding Performance" trophy at the Formula One Car Show at Incahoots. Other venues include the Meacham Park Homecoming, Waxx Factory, St. Louis Bulldogs' minor league football game, the Missouri Black Expo, North Oaks Bowl, Club Rolisa, where he won the "Ladies Choice Award," Spruill's North, Sheldon Concert Hall, Webster University, the Comedy Forum in St. Charles, the Rio Club in East St. Louis, Illinois, The Sky Box in Memphis, Tennessee, Joe Torry Pep Rally at Kiener Plaza, and The Hyde Park Festival.


Lil Skandalaz was selected, through an audition at the Comfort Zone, to participate in the 1st Annual Queen City Seminar and Music Showcase in Charlotte, North Carolina on January 10, 2004. He won a 3rd place trophy at the event. This would be his last performance. Despite his tragic death, his CD was independently released in August 2004. Sales of his CD, "Survival Of Da Spittest," has reached as far as Japan and was named as one of STL's Dirtiest (Underground releases rise to the surface in 2004) in the Best Movies & Music of the Year, according to the Riverfront Times' December 2004 issue. His tracks are currently in rotation at www.riverfrontradio.com.
