Scylla & Charybdis goes in a very different direction after Twenty Second Century EP. These songs are much more upbeat, the auto-tune effect is gone, and the lyrics are much more thought out and symbolic.

The name Scylla & Charybdis comes from a story in The Odyssey, where Odysseus has to sail between Scylla and Charybdis. Scylla was a 6-headed sea monster who would snatch up sailors as they passed, and Charybdis was a huge whirlpool that would suck up a passing ship 3 times a day. Avoiding one meant sailing to close to the other. Odysseus chooses to sail closer to Scylla and loses 6 men instead of losing the entire ship to Charybdis. The whole story is symbolic of the idea of choosing between two difficult choices when one has immediate consequences but another will slowly suck you in and swallow you whole.
