Details:
Rivalry, realization, and resilience are the three Râs which best describe the formation of Tomorrowâs Excuse. The history of this modest, hard working, and deeply committed quartet can be traced back to the mid-90âs when a scrawny, shy kid named Mat Bowman moved in across the street from the born and raised Cambridge native Steve Wallace. That friendly game of baseball one August afternoon quickly turned to discussions about their mutual interest in Rock and Roll, which followed the boys into their high school years. It was there where they met Mike Meacher, and where a deep seeded rivalry beganâ¦
About the only thing Mike and Steve had in common during their early teens was an undying love for that awe inspiring instrument, the electric guitar. As members of rival bands they sought only to outplay, outperform, and down right humiliate each other with their six-stringed talent. At points, this rivalry became so intense that it threatened the stability of each otherâs respective bands, and it soon became clear that one of two things was bound to happen; the demise of both musicians, or an unprecedented collaborationâ¦.
This is where our second R comes in. It took the realization of Mat (a man more wise than his years) that the very energy which had for so many years fueled the rivalry could be harnessed into one entity, one collaboration, one Tomorrowâs Excuse. Petty differences now put aside, the trio began the search for that one missing component, the bass guitarâ¦
The search for that elusive bottom end proved much more difficult than the boys (now young men) had anticipated. It took a degree of resilience (our third R) on the part of Mike, Steve and Mat in the search for the missing corner of Tomorrowâs Excuse, at times shaking its foundation, but never cracking it. As the search moved well into the new millennium, and patience thinned, a gift from cyberspace landed in the lap of the threesome. A mysterious email, from a not-so-mysterious man, prompted an invitation from the trio to one Dave Guenard. Interests, personalities, and talents quickly meshed amongst the now completed quartet, and the young men found themselves staring into a future that had not looked as bright in all their historyâ¦
With the completion of their freshman debut, âHere Below The Lightsâ, Tomorrowâs Excuse is ready to tackle the hearts, minds, and souls of an audience eager for something not simply new, but real. Stay tunedâ¦
