Evokes a wide range of emotion mixing driven acoustic rhythmic guitar with increasingly complicated bass movements.
10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Acoustic, JAZZ: Weird Jazz
Details:
Say youâre a young guy who takes the road less traveled, a path that shocks your friends: you decide you want to be a Catholic priest. But seminary isnât quite what you imagined, and the struggle between your secular and spiritual selvesânot to mention the institutionâis anything but holy. So you turn back, your faith betrayed, your future blurry.
Now what?
If youâre Tom Goss, you make Naked Without, a sonic record of that journey and a celebration of new beginnings.
Donât expect hymns. Tom offers up surprisingly dynamic and melodic acoustic rock that features muscular guitar, soulful bass, distinctive vocalsâand a unique voice. If the 25-year-old has any patron saints, they include David Gray, Dave Matthews, Damien Rice, Ben Folds, and Joss Stone.
Born and raised in Kenosha, WI, Tom moved to Washington, DC to attend seminary in 2004 and lives there still. While a volunteer at a medical clinic for the homeless, he met bassist William Henderson, who had been a successful tour and studio musician before he, too, took a wrong turn. In getting his life back on track, William joined Tom in recording these expressive and explosive songs.
The CDâs title, and Tomâs songs, ask some tough questions: In what do you clothe your identity? Whatâor whomâwould you be naked without? What would you sing about then?
Tomâs answers are definitely worth listening to.
