The One Man Electrical Band, you can say is a true One Man Band. He really does it all! Mike "Thrasher" Carr, formerly of Black Roses, decided in 2004 to venture on his own and explore solo music after two failed attempts with his band, Black Roses. The One Man Electrical Band was really an accident that was only meant to cover a few shows in between drummers. But after one or two shows he realized this was the way to go. He could provide the same entertainment as a band, BY HIMSELF! Without the hassle!!
O.M.E.B. is designed to bring a hard rock act to a club who is looking for cost efficient live entertainment and or does not have the space for a full band. Thrasher, who teaches music in a private school, has taken the solo act to the next level.
How he accomplishes this is by recording live instruments into a laptop. After recording and sequencing drums, bass, piano, backup vocals and even strings; he mixes the music through his P.A., minus his guitar parts and vocals. Using this method, there are no restrictions as to what he can play. You can hear your favorite GNR, Ozzy, Metallica, Pink Floyd, System of a Down, Led Zeppelin and much more. He is your roaming party!!
OMEB is currently endorsed by BC Rich Guitars and Monster Guitar Picks!!
Thrasher's debut self titled CD is composed of songs written thru his life. Some new some old, but lots of music that has been sitting doing nothing. A girlfriend at the time after hearing what he had been recording encouranged Thrasher to finish the CD. And after 10 long years of waiting it has come to life!!
"Come Get Some" is inspired by an experience of a female stalker Thrasher dealt with while in his band, Black Roses. The song was written about how she wanted to be everything he has accomplished and about him kicking her @ss!
"Dead Flowers" is a Rolling Stones song Thrasher discovered on a live GN'R bootleg. He immediately fell in love with the song and soon became on of the most requested songs at his shows. So, here is his version
"Right There" is a song about always looking for the right person and how they are usually right there. You just never notice. The song uses some very artistic lyrical imagery
"Dark Things" basically about what we all fear, that dark thing under our beds!!!
"My Ev'rything to Me" is the first single off the CD. It is almost a country/gn'r style crossover. It seems to go over with any crowd and a favorite by the girls!
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"... for whatever reason Thrasher heard a version Elton John did of this song years ago. He went back to find the Beatles version and hated it!! So, Thrasher decided to change the song to be his own and now has became the most fun song on the album!!!
"Mind Circus" is written after Thrasher's first real band, Mind Circus. The song personifies the drug use that destroyed the band as Satan. This song is a good mean, danceable song with a dark story.
"Just Another Rainy Day" is the reason this CD is finished. Thrasher wrote the song for his girlfriend at the time when they were having a rocky spot in the relationship. This is the most creative song on the CD borderlining an epic in its story line and the constant building of the music in the song. Definitely, the high point of this CD because we have all lived these lyrics in some way, shape or form.
"This Life" was written backwards. Thrasher recorded the music for this song first. Immediately, to the minute after the music was finished something horrifying and tragic happened that forever changed his life and inspired the lyrics to this song.
"I AM" a long complicated story behind this one. See if you can figure it out. If you do email Thrasher and he will send you a free shirt!
