Timothy Scott flies in the face of easy-does-it, conventional wisdom with his lyric to "Take It Fast." "Sometimes you just gotta take it fast!" This is not to say, however, that Scott's music is particularly fast. Rather, he touches upon moderately paced folk and country elements to underpin his lyrics.

Scott may make folk and country his base elements, but he doesn't just build his house with these limited and limiting materials. "Ask Not What Love Can Do for you," for instance, sports a jazzy guitar solo; "Irish Ditty," despite its Irish-centric sentiments, has a renaissance feel to it; "Owed to the Blues" is just what its title suggests: an upbeat, electrified blues rocker.

The clear standout track on this CD is one titled "1/2 Wicca & ½ Mize Thing," which â with its gypsy music feel â describes a New Age religious chick to whom Scott pleads: "Have mercy on a sinner like me." Scott may let loose with "Owed to the Blues," but he holds more back than he gives out. "And Now We Dance" is a gentle entry, aided by flute. "Someday" is also equally soft and features backing female vocals.

Without a doubt, Timothy Scott deserves to be heard by the fan base that enjoys eclectic Americana music
