Details:
"Where have you been?" Tim Hoover is often asked when he cycles back into his solo singing career with his sincere, jazz-nuanced stylings from the Great American Songbook. Tim has devoted much of his life to music, singing in church choirs in his youth, traveling the world in his 20's with a gospel big band, and currently singing with the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. Numerous recording projects have earned him membership in NARAS--the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (i.e., the Grammy Awards)--yet his latest recording, "Street of Dreams," is his first all-solo endeavor.
On this album, Tim definitively interprets songs that range from an Abbott and Costello movie tune, to one from a Pulitzer prize-winning, Broadway musical; from a tap-dance ditty gone adagio, to a Glenn Miller medley that verges on bop; from American hymnody, to the Beatles. Of "Street of Dreams," Chuck Workman, producer/host of the Sunday Morning Jazz Show at 107.9 WTPI in Indianapolis, says: "Congratulations! You really hit it with this thing, man! The arrangements---the feel---you---you're on top of it: a welcome sound in town."
Born in South Carolina, and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Tim Hoover is a graduate in music and psychology from Oral Roberts University and has a Master's Degree in pastoral counseling and psychology from Ashland University Theological Seminary. He has performed with artists as diverse as Cliff Richard, Robert Shaw, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, and Little Richard. Tim's creative inspirations include his father, gospel singer, Herb Hoover; Singers Unlimited, Peter Nero, Tony Bennett, Nancy LaMott, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and authors Julia Cameron (The Artist's Way) and James B. Nelson (Between Two Gardens and Embodiment).
