The perfect Mother's Day gift for any mom on your list!

Water Over Stones is the latest and best entry into a burgeoning new genre â musicians, who are moms, creating songs about their experience. Tina deVaron is at the forefront of this movement. Her memorable, hooky, evocative songs speak to a group of people who have been largely ignored by the mainstream music industry. Through it all, her goal is to write great songs. âJust because itâs such an emotional topic doesnât mean we can be lazy. Itâs all the more reason for the material to be first-rate.â

And the musicians and production on this album are certainly first-rate, too, with world-renowned bassist John Pattitucci among many of New York and Nashvilleâs best musicians, and Grammy-winning producer David Seitz.

From the jazzy âPayback Time,â about drinking and driving, to the rocking âMom Is Not My Real Name,â a gloriously twisted look at maternal exhaustion, Tinaâs songs cover the entire journey of this phase of a motherâs life. âAinât Goin Awayâ is a spicy, Cajun-flavored meditation on an enduringly sexy marriage, while âLiving Proofâ tells a story about grandparents who are truly of the Greatest Generation.

Tina deVaron grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but began her musical career while an undergrad at Princeton University, as an opening act for Tom Waits at the Ivy Club. Moving to New York after graduation, Tina played Cole Porter's piano nightly at the Waldorf for six years, where her fans included Frank Sinatra (with whom she sang an impromptu duet).

While developing a working repertoire of over 2,000 standards, Tina had two sons, who inspired her to start writing her own songs. Within a few years, Tina's first major label cover, "Adore You," sung by Grammy-nominated Anointed, reached #1 on the Gospel charts. In July 2004, Tina's song "If I Close My Eyes" reached #2 on Dance Radio charts.

In addition to achieving success with her pop songwriting, Tina also started her own record label and released her first singer/songwriter album of original motherhood songs, called If Mama Ain't Happy, which has sold over 2,000 copies to date.

In November 2005 Tina released Water Over Stones, an album of 14 original songs about motherhood, raising teens, and grown-up love. With her powerful lyrics, a sultry musical style infused with blues, jazz, and funk, and a live show that is both hilarious and moving, Tina has built a fanbase of mothers all over the country.

Tina is currently developing an Off-Broadway show based on her motherhood music and is performing jazz standards and children's classics regularly at the Carlyle Hotel's Bemelmans Bar for "Madeline's Tea."

Tina lives in New York City with her husband, author Peter Lerangis, and their two sons, Nicholas and Joseph.
