Details:
Edward Guglielmino is an avant garde sonic experimentalist, falling somewhere between rock, pop, folk and noise.

Edward's offbeat style finds common ground with the philosophies of Warhol, Keroac and The Velvet Underground. But he injects the usual beat-era irreverence and stream-of-consciousness storytelling concept with a distinctly modern, technology-embracing, indie-kid twist.

Edward's palette is an arsenal of cheap guitars and effects, his canvas the exploding internet music community. He's fuelled by an overcaffeinated carpe diem compulsion and a passion for challenging music. His arthouse attitude to performance - whimsically reinterpreting the "genre" of tunes from gig to gig - can render his songs difficult to classify.

Think a young Thom Yorke - if he was solo, broke, creatively hungry, and living on Brunswick Street.

A full-time musician, Edward peforms frequently, both as a soloist and with his improv band Lost of Love (featuring tour-de-force songstress Jackie Marshall and The Boat People's James O'Brien).

Edward is also well-known as a MySpace junkie, having worked the online community to sell over 300 copies of his debut album The Learning Curve to connoisseurs-of-the-odd scattered all around the world.

Guglielminos music is currently playing on Brisbane community radio stations 4zZz, BayFm, and Planet Radio, as well as on many mp3 radio stations around the world.

Guglielminos' latest single Tacky Song charted 8th in the unearthed pop charts, and also was runner up in the Q-song mixed bag song awards.

Guglielmino is a highly active member of the Brisbane Music scene, booking events including the Alley Bar's Bridge Sessions (Wednesday night singer/songwriter showcase). He also runs his own label, Television Records - representing Cometowherethecarpetstops, Cameron Elliott, Luke Foran, Jackie Marshall, and of course himself.

Edward Guglielmino also writes a blog centred around philoposphy, music, art and culture. Readers include Anton Newcome (The Brian Jonestown Massacare) and members of Wolf and Cub.

Edward has played at numerous Brisbane venues (including: Ric's, The Rev, The Troubadour, Verve Cafe, Tongue'n'Groove, Visible Ink, The Alley and The Calypso Bar), as well as selected shows in New York, LA, Calgary and Tokyo. Shortly, he's off to perform in Berlin alongside renowned German soloist Kurt Kurt Kreikenbom.

What people are saying about Edward Guglielmino:

"This music makes you feel. A truly unique celebration of emotive and experimental sound within the context of pop and the lonely melody...... Sounds like Lou Redd on acid trying to drag radiohead to the gym to work out with Kurt Cobains younger sadder brother." - Isaac Emmanuel, Flamingo Crash.

"Edward is a very talented emerging artist and doing something quite different, .... coming from a space a bit like the Velvet Underground / Andy Warhol / Doors era." - Rick Chazan, Manager The Boat People.

"Edward is one of Brisbane's most innovative and original musicians. Equally intriguing and exacerbating" - James O'Brien, The Boat People.

"Ed is the only artist I know who can afford to say Fuck You Brisbane. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Edward is a genius. And no, I am not sleeping with him, Edwards music reminds me'v groundhog evenings'v sugar hits chasing smack hits underpinned by skullclamping acid trips spent looking hopelessly at the work'v Brett Whitely wannabes; the soundtrack to modern Alice In Wonderland falling down the hole. " - Jackie Marshall.

"Edward has a bitterness that doesn't betray an undertone of hatred, just confusion and bewilderment. He knows the world will continue to fall whether he plays a part in it or not, but he wants to make sure that if you witness the destruction of our existence, that you stop by, at least for a glimmer, of the existence of Edward Guglielmino. Not too much to ask" - Joshua Kellher, 4zZz.

"Edward Guglielmino from Brisbane, Australia is an inventive, funny and creative young singer and songwriter.......I want Edward's music to be heard, and I want him to write and play some more... Edward's serious about what he does and he's far out. Edward's music is spontaneous, often improvised and rough. He's got a feeling for what sounds good (I already told him he'd look good on Shimmy Disc) and he can make it sound (by playing and singing good and highly idiosyncratic)." - Kurt Kreikenbom (Berlin)
