Hi to everybody! My name is Gemma Heaney known as 'Gem'. I am 25 years old from Co. Donegal in Ireland. I am a singer/songwriter and started playing and composing songs when I was about 15. I grew up listening to all types of music Irish traditional, celtic rock, blues, folk and hard rock with bands like Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, Led Zep, Neil Young, The who, T. Rex and many more. In my songs I think that the mixture of all these influences are apparent. I have been through a lot of bands including 2 cover bands and I always wanted to play my own stuff so thats what I've decided to do. I have written and composed over 80 songs and recorded most of them. I always loved music and love being around creative people. I think that musicians are the most interesting people that you will ever meet they all have a story to tell and most have been on so many journey's in life through their music! I studied music for 5 years, 2 in music performance and 3 in music production, the courses I have done were very male dominated and at one stage I was the only girl in a class of 35 dudes, so you had to fight your corner to get heard, I take my hat off to all female studio producers you have my up most respect!'Footprints in the sand' is the first album I have ever released and I hope you like it !Gem xxxxxx
