Details:
When I listen to music, compose or play it, or when I am writing verse, I feel like a completely different person. So when I turned my favorite hobby into a music production venture, I decided that my alter ego would need a name. I was born in 1956 and named Brian Joseph. My favorite meal of all time is Chicken Cordon Bleu. Hence the name, bjbleu.

I was fortunate to grow up in a musical home, and to be exposed to a wide variety of music. I began playing the flute at age 11. In 1973 I went to college with the intention of being a music major. I quickly realized I did not want to live my life in practice rooms, and I partied my way right out of school before the first year was up.

I spent the next few years hitchhiking around our country. I worked a number of menial jobs along the way. It was the only time in my life that I have experienced anything close to freedom. But as the great song says, "freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose." And by 1977 that pretty much described my situation.

At that time I went back to college knowing only that I would at least take it seriously. After twelve years I obtained a medical degree and specialization training in Psychiatry. I am currently beginning my fifteenth year in a day job I very much enjoy.

Throughout my adult life, when time allowed, I continued to play the flute. Eventually I became pretty good at ad libbing and jamming. Which got me to thinking about music compostion.

In 1995 I began spending some of my spare time writing songs, and recording demos. Since then I have penned many songs in nearly every music genre. In 2001 it occurred to me that I ought to attempt to produce an album of my own material.

Most of the songs I have written are timeless pieces. But due to the interesting times in which we live, and the fact that some songs are only relevant at a given time, my first album just had to be what it is. "A diverse rock album of political, social, and religious commentary and satire."

So after all of that, here at the end of 2003, is my first album. It is called "American Salvation." I thank you for listening and hope you enjoy it.
