Self Pleasurevation is a concept album that serves as a musical reaction to the failure of Gonkens debut release, Farewell To Sanity. The album utilizes a multitude of musical styles (including rock, techno, hip hop, pop, industrial, and more) to tell the tale of an artist trying to make a name for himself amongst the cutthroat superficiality of the music industry, and facing soul crushing adversity and failure every step of the way.
From the anthemic electro-rock of Gonkens Theme, to the laidback, radio friendly reactionism of the title track, to exposing the foolishness of a newly signed artist in the crowd favorite Panda Cancer, Self Pleasurevation takes the listener on journey, lyrically and sonically, through the anxiety, rejection, frustration, doubt, and the entire range of other emotions that a one man experimental-electro-industrial-pop-techno-hip hop-punk rock band must often endure just to get itself heard, only to be snubbed at every turn by a sheepish, robotic public that refuses to support, appreciate or even acknowledge them.

The albums non linear three act structure is given an even stronger soundtrack like quality with the addition of interview clips with the artist himself and a series of disturbing product endorsements. Self Pleasurevations concept is only amplified by its utter failure to reach an audience (in the almost two years since its release, sales have barely exceeded the double digits). But hey, at least he doesnt have panda cancer.
