As you read this, hopefully you are listening to the music of Denis Farfone.
Denis Farfone is a super hornman. He can play any style of music which is evident in his many solo albums. He started performing in high school in a rock band playing Led Zepplin on the organ and Jethro Tull on the flute. He auditioned for an original rock band on the alto saxophone and was hired on the spot. He also auditioned for an original band in New York City on the alto saxophone and was hired immediately. The guitarist said, "You really have a hot sound!" Denis also recorded a tenor saxophone solo for a recording studio in New York City for a Lonnie Smith album. Denis auditioned for a college big band in Nashville on the tenor saxophone and made solo chair. He was also hired on the tenor saxophone and flute for the Evans-Gerard Jazz Quartet playing original and copy tunes from such groups as Weather Report, Chick Corea...to name a few.
The Sonido Ekos Latin Band also hired Denis on the alto saxophone and flute to play their salsa and merengue charts. He also auditioned for a symphonic band in upper Westchester County on the tenor saxophone and made solo chair where he played many outdoor concerts and met tenor saxophonist Carmen Leggio.
After years of playing for other groups, this album showcases his PopJazz sound: a pop style and a soulful sound with a jazz feel...on the soprano saxophone.
