Details:
FAITH IN THE SYSTEMâs band members originate from all over the U.S. and abroad. Marcel, the singer and rhythm guitarist, was born in Washington, D.C. to a seasoned road musician father and a Broadway Musical mother, who sang backup for James Brown and Sly & The Family Stone, among others. They moved from the ghettos of D.C. to the suburbs of Wisconsin. With Classical, Motown, Sly and P-Funk flowing through his veins and 80âs Rock, Pop and Country in his ears, Marcel headed back to college in D.C. to study music. He played in a few bands such as Black Earth and Afrodisiax until he found success with SkuttlâButt; a hard-core, hip-hop, ska band. SkuttlâButt landed a deal with a small local label and began to play all over D.C., Virginia, Maryland and at New York's famous CBGBâs. SkuttlâButt earned the reputation as the âheaviest bandâ at the Black Rock Coalitions 1995 Stalking Heads tour. Host and founder Vernon Reid (Living Colour) was inspirational in Marcelâs goals and direction. The band split and Marcel headed west and began playing with Steve Penwell Matt McMahon and Darian Parsley eventually added Nate Cryns, in May of 2001 and the saga Continues. FAITH IN THE SYSTEM is an abstract collage of heavy groove based rock with melody, power, presence and a message. They Rock.
