Details:
I was born in Kingston Jamaica, C Whitely A.K.A Preecha Kungo and lived in the area of Slipe Road and Admiral Pen Road. It is in this neighborhood that bass harmonist for Desmond Decker would hold my hand as a child and carry me to get bulla cake at the corner store. I will never forget it. InI people move to live Mannings hill Road when I reach inna my teens, I used to hear sound trodding from constant springs all age school in cassava piece. Music started to resonate within me, inspiring me to move and grow as a musician. Musicians like Big Youth, Bob Marley, Uroy, Rankin Trevor, Rankin Joe, and all of these deejay and singers had their thing they were promoting to the mainstream. Now reggae music was appealing to youth and listened to as the popular culture style music. From King Tubby to Tipper Tone and Big Youth. Crutches used to deejay on Arrows sound, Emperor Lord Faith till Daddy Roy came with King Stur Gav Hi Fi with Rankin Joe Charlie Chaplin and later Jose Wale. The Brigadier The General upon Jah Love music... From then I start to figure out the direction I want to head musically.... I first start chant in front of others on Old Harbour Road, on a sound name Black Ark sound, Waynie Wonder used to pass through every now and then. Until 1987, when I leave and touch New York I use to do some rehearsal with Superior One, then find myself in 12 tribes for the next three years. Meeting and knowing Sister Carol, Fredlocks, Visioneers, Judah Eskender, ShineyCulture, members of the Twelve Tribes had a sound called Ital owned by Shorty and the President and Dilly Dan. From there, most entertainers pass through, Ninja Man, Junior Demus, Nicodemus. Louie Culture, Bobby Culture. I Left new york in 1993 a pass through the Boston Reggae scene at Western Front a popular Reggae club. I began my journey chanting among some of Reggae's best in their own right artist such as late great drummer Winston Grinnan, Dub Sation, Ras John and the Loose Caboose, Skiffinton, Shaka Black, Abdul Baki and New Roots. Abdul Baki and myself did a CD in 1998 called the other side of slim a tribute to the late and great Slim Smith. I also produce a compilation single with Ras Mento, Journalist Bandoo, Daughter Rula, Lady Lee and Miss V. Currently, I am working on my CD which will finish around December or January of 2007 ... Rastafari live! Blessed love to all...
