Details:
Larchmont Recording will be releasing a new recording by New York jazz group the Kestrals on October 17th. The CD entitled "Music to Watch Birds By" features many recordings of jazz interpretations of various bird calls and songs such as the Northern Mockingbird, Black Capped Chickadee, Gray Catbird, Tennessee Warbler, Yellow Bellied Sapsucker, Eastern Phoebe and many others. In addition to the cool jazz interpretations, each recording features a brief interlude in which that birds call or song is featured so that the listener can hear the references and interpretations more clearly. The recording was produced by Oneonta Sate College Assistant Professor, Charlie B. Dahan and Purchase College Associate Professor, Dr. Joseph Ferry, who also wrote all the songs on the album. Both Dahan and Ferry authored the albums liner note essays. Also featured in the packaging are beautiful photographs of various birds by noted bird photographer, Gail DuBois.
