âOn The Train,â has a special dedication to my co-writer Neal Grossman. If you knew Neal, you knew that being in a wheelchair and having great difficulty speaking, eating and doing the things we take for granted did not dim Nealâs joi dâvivre in the least.
As we worked together, I would go to his house on the West Side (NYC), pick out a few lyrics from his vast collection of poems, take them home and work on them, make a demo and bring them back. It brought both of us great joy and satisfaction to collaborate in this way. Neal was very courageous, funny and poignant, like his lyrics. Luckily he got to hear all the songs completed before he died, on July 23rd. We started working together over 2 years ago when we wrote and recorded âAnyplace at Allâ and âHeaven in my Mindâ (the title track of my last CD). I hope you all get a chance to hear his words.
