BIOGRAPHY

After graduating with a fine arts degree in photography from the University of Georgia, David worked as a photojournalist for his hometown newspaper the Marietta Daily Journal. He soon grew tired of âtrading time for money....â as one of his songs quips and headed north to Alaska where he and three friends from the city embarked on an extraordinary mission to claim and establish a homestead deep in Americaâs last frontier. After driving more than 4,000 miles and surveying vast stretches of wilderness for the perfect homestead site, the young men construct a cabin using only the hand tools and hard work theyâve packed into a brilliantly short Alaskan summer. As David looked to nature to simplify life, it was his rich experience in the wilderness that became the inspiration for many of his songs. David documented the entire summer through his songs and photography and created his first and most memorable multi-media show, Cabin Song.

David left Alaska and moved to Montana working every type of job imaginable to keep a guitar and camera in his hands. In 1996, David scraped enough money to record his first independent album, Chasinâ Moons, a collection of original contemporary folk music that received rave local reviews and opened the singer/songwriter doors across Montana and the Northwest.

It was while watching a PBS documentary on the Lewis & Clark expedition that David found the inspiration for his second album. The songwriter challenged himself to create an original contemporary musical anthology that would capture the drama and emotion of this epic American journey. David then blended historic imagery and scenic photography with his original songs creating his second multi-media program, Lewis & Clark - West For America. This musical documentary caught the attention of Glacier National Park, Inc. who then signed a contract with David to perform his programs during the summers at the historic Many Glacier Lodge.

In January 2002, David was invited to perform for the National Parkâs, Tent Of Many Voices during the Lewis & Clark inaugural bicentennial ceremonies in Monticello, Virginia. In October 2004, David performed West For America at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. He has since received numerous requests to perform for educational programs, community shows and bicentennial events all across the country. The West For America soundtrack is endorsed by the National Council of the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial as part of their official Travelerâs Collection Series.

While performing in Glacier National Park, David was again inspired to capture the spirit and essence of the characters, events and landscape that surrounded him. In 2000, David produced his third multi-media show and CD, Montana â Life Under The Big Sky a wonderful acoustic and scenic journey that truly embodies the âMade in Montanaâ experience. His songs, Going To The Sun, was featured in special segment on the National Geographic Today Channel and Goinâ Fishing, Sweet Montana Home and Montana Time were used on the The Outdoor Channelâs program, Familiar Waters: Flathead River.
