COUNTRY: Western Swing, COUNTRY: Bluegrass
Details:
As a kid seeing the Glen Campbell goodtime hour on television started me on my musical journey. Music was always around. My dad liked the western swing of Bob Wills. My uncle Galen played bass and my other uncle Ellis played accordion, moms people were always singing hymns gathered around the piano. After dad traded a used car for a guitar I was on my way, but it was the fiddle that I really loved. It would be the Nitty Gritty Dirt bands Circle album with the great Vassar Clements that really influenced me more than any thing.
I started out playing the fiddle for square dances in my early teens.
After leaving home I spent the next ten years with bluegrass acts such as the
Bluegrass Cardinals, Peter Rowan, Bob Paisley and the Weary Hearts. In 1989 I moved to Nashville where I traveled and recorded with Aaron Tippin, Tracy Lawrence, Dierks Bentley and Katrina Elam.
I am happy to release my first solo project with help of friends Mike Bub (Del Mccoury band) on acoustic bass, Robert Bowlin ( Bill Monroe, Bobby Bare, Kathy Mattea) acoustic guitar, Craig Fletcher (Joe Diffie, Lori Morgan) mandolin Tim Grogan (Desert Rose Band, Aaron Tippin, Boy Howdy)on drums and piano, Kent Blanton (Marty Stuart)acoustic bass with other guest Rod Lewis electric and acoustic bass and my dad Gary Stout calling a square dance..
Itâs a collection of acoustic based originals with bluegrass and newgrass roots, with some swing, celtic, square dance and new age thrown in. Mainly fiddle driven drawing on bluegrass and traditional roots, the songs Amanda Lynn and Homecoming are more little something from a movie soundtrack while other songs have a big band swing era flavor . If you enjoy fine fiddle, mandolin and acoustic lead playing Give this a listen â¦.
