ROCK: Surf Rock, POP: Power Pop
Details:
Wave Invasion is band of musicians who have a special chemistry when they get together. They have an ear catching sound that is dynamic and infectious. Audiences of all ages have been enjoying their music at live shows for the past four years. Not content to play the standard Surf repertoire Wave Invasion has created their own sound and their own genre. They really don't fit into any of the standard music categories and audiences love the twists and turns they throw into every arrangement to say nothing of the power and intensity of their performances. "You never know what they'll play next" is often heard at one of their concerts. Every type of music or song can be played in their own unique style. They feature inventive original songs and unusual cover tunes in their set list. Their first CD has received a 4 star rating from Phil Dirt
Vince Motel: Vince is the lead guitarist in Wave Invasion.. He enjoys working with Andrew to develop a two pronged guitar attack. He's been playing for 25 years and has a background that includes performing with groups as diverse as 20 piece Big Bands to Progressive Rock bands. He brings this background to Wave Invasion and uses it to create the sonic landscapes that are at the core of Wave Invasion's approach. He uses some rather untraditional equipment to get the air moving in Wave Invasion. Vince has been a guitar collector for years and always has something new to add to the Wave Invasion soundscape. He also has a background in sound system design and installation as well as journalism.
Andrew Motel: Andrew is Wave Invasion's newest member, both in age and length of time with the band. Andrew plays straight ahead surf rhythm, laying a foundation for Vince's blistering lead work. On stage he plays a Fender strat into a Twin reverb. Offstage he has a collection of 80s metal guitars that the other members of the band are free to make fun of whenever they need a little pick-me-up.
Richard Fisher: Whenever Andrew and Vince take off and improvise, it's Richard's solid bass that keeps the whole thing locked together. He provides the bottom and along with Jeff the rhythm that keeps Wave Invasion rocking. Pat and Vince can drop out of the arrangement and it will sound just as full because Richard''s doing his job. Richard was the last piece of the puzzle. When he played with the others the first time it was as if a long lost brother had been found. His playing was so solid and in the pocket that the others new they could build on the mighty foundation he provides. Richard plays a 1965 Fender Precision Bass
Jeff Dover: At the very heart of music is the exhilarating beat of the drums. It's the driving force. If your drummer isn't doing it right you can't call yourself a band. Wave Invasion is indeed fortunate to have the drum throne filled by the surf savvy of Jeff Dover. Jeff has been a life long fan of Surf and 9 years ago decided he wanted to play drums in a Surf band. He understood the power required to do Surf correctly in his first band but was disappointed with their inability to convey the power he felt the music deserved. Jeff and Vince met in a Surf band in Riverside, California in 1999. This band came close to conveying the power that is possible. When that band ran its course they decided they were on to a good thing and decided to form a new band. Jeff plays a vintage Ludwig Red Sparkle 4 piece set

WAVE INVASION
Which Way To The Beach?
(WI Records)
Veteran guitarist Vince Motel puts his collection to the test on the first album with his band Wave Invasion. The back CD panel of Which Way To The Beach? lists an array of vintage guitars used by Motel including his candy apple red 1962 Fender Jazzmaster guitar. Assisted by Andrew Motel (Ibanez shredder axes), Richard Fisher (bass) and Jeff Dover (drums), Motel & Co. are masters of the vintage studio sound and the cool effects they use to get it like the strange sounding Hiwatt Echo Theremin. A round of sure-fire Motel originals mix tastefully with covers of Danny Elfman ("The Simpsons"), Randy Bachman ("Undone"), Max Steiner ("A Summer Place"), Ennio Morricone ("The Good The Bad And The Ugly") and The Beatles ("Eleanor Rigby"). Taking the guitar instrumental sound forward, Motel makes these songs his own on a five star surf-rock set. www.waveinvasion.com
