San Diego Balboa Raiders Pee Wee team ranks #16 on national level

This season Balboa has been gifted with many talented teams. However, there is one team that is beyond good, they are down-right phenomenal! The Balboa Raiders Pee Wee team is comprised of 34, 6th graders between the ages of 10-12 years old (majority being 11 years of age). These boys are something very special and together they are not only a great team, they are a brotherhood. They know what it is like to be ruled out, and dismissed, to be the true âunder-dogâ. This team has been 3 years in the making, and they are a true âCinderellaâ story.

3 years ago when they were Mitey-Miteâs the team was comprised mostly of first year players and considered the âfillerâ team because the older Mitey-Mite team was already filled. Not only did they perform better than expected, they had a winning record 5 â 3 losing those 3 games by a combined total of less than 12 points.

Fast forward to Jr. Pee Wee, with a little recognition under their belt they gained a little more respect; however, they were still the under-dogs and not even considered play-off contenders. They were considered Balboaâs âBâ team with only 24 players. That year they went all the way to the San Diego AYF semi-finals with an overall winning record of 9 â 2.

This current season, they have gone from being completely off the radar to now being a nationally ranked football team. They are currently ranked #16 in the National AYF rankings and mid way through the season find themselves practically unstoppable with a 5-0 record. They are looking to have an undefeated season going all the way to the AYF championship.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our boys and unfortunately as great as they are on the field, they may not be able to take advantage of this opportunity due to lack of funds. It will cost roughly $26,000 to get the entire team to Florida. We are reaching out to the community to seek some type of assistance.
