Whether you call her music acoustic activist, musical humorist or folk feminist, Tray Drach's music presence on her third self-produced release "Listen For the Kiss" can only be distilled into the simple phrase "smokin' folk cabaret". Drach carries the listener through an eclectic collection of musical styles which showcase her originality as a compelling and literate songwriter, and her versatility as a sultry and sweet vocalist. Accompanied by cello, guitars, bass and percussion, she weaves her vocals into a lush tapestry of sparse acoustic arrangements. Additional instrumentation includes guest appearances by fiddler Roberta Greenspan (Alice Di'Micele's "Demons and Angels") and harmonica player Sandy Garfinkel (Indigo Girls "Rites of Passage' and "1,200 Curfews").

"Listen For the Kiss" is comprised of six original songs and four well-selected covers which include Judy Small's poignant "No Tears for the Widow", and Stephen Schwartz's "It's an Art", a tribute to waitresses and the working class. The end result is a collection of songs which wrings wistful hope out of the small despairs of everyday, and Drach's vocal presentation wraps the whole in a smoldering package of hard-won faith. "Listen for the Kiss" continues the artist's ongoing tribute to the courage it takes to live with joy in a world of loss and uncertainty.
